Occupy Love is a feature documentary that explores the rise of people power in a time of global crisis”. Velcrow Ripper, the film director, told me that the entire project was lead by one question: how could the crisis on the planet become a love story? The making of the film was propelled by crowd funding – over 900 people contributed to making the film a reality: I was one of those 900 individuals because this project simply awakened in me the longing for participation in co-creating a better reality. “It wasn’t a simple capitalist transaction – I pay you x you give me y. It was deeper than that. It was in the spirit of participation. The people who helped make the film possible are part of the project, and part of the movement towards a more beautiful world”, says Velcrow Ripper. This film was born as a creative project and keeps living as a movement, through collective screenings, meetings, discussions and new projects that are inspired by it. Occupy Love inspires new ways of being on this planet together.
