Dance. An expression of Oneness.

Realizing that Oneness is the only reality we are living is powerful. Art is one of the most amazing ways we have to express, highlight, share such a concept: it allows us to make it more tangible. In South Africa, as a rite of passage dance, the tribe Venda performs an impressive snake dance called Domba. During the dance all bodies are interconnected and every move produces another move, every single change affects the whole. This ritual dance inspired dance choreographer Akram Khan, one of the UK’s most innovative and influential dance talents. With his dance company, he created the inspiring production “Dust” where a specific section reminds us that we are all in this together and we can uplift-support-affect one another through our daily actions. One tribe, one body, one DNA.

“We are all one in life, connected through nature. I am you and you are me. We are all intertwined and if one moves, this will affect all the others. Our molecules are communicating with one another in a constant flow.
This human DNA string therefore to me is so much more than just a performance. It’s a representation of how we are all one. The space, air and distance between us might look like it’s separating the You from the Me, but in reality it’s not. Just like water, although there might be a difference in distance between the bottom of the sea and the top: it’s still the same water, connected and flowing through everything that lives in it.” Sebastian Kerckhof
