Our friends Las Cafeteras, a phenomenal band from East LA, have released a powerful new song today and even though they are not on the Cumbancha label, I hope its ok with you that I’m sending it your way.
On the first President’s Day of the Trump administration, the band have asked us all to consider what we would do with the power to shape our world. If you were president, what would you do?
Their new song “If I Was President” is available free today on their Bandcamp store: http://bit.ly/2kF914Y
You can also check out the song on Spotify, Apple Music and other major platforms.
Las Cafeteras are children of immigrants who are remixing roots music and telling modern day stories. “We wanted to engage people’s imaginations about the future of this country,” notes the band. “Everyone knows what’s wrong, but not many know what to do. We hope to push people to think about themselves as presidents of their homes, schools, workplaces and to create the kind of country they would like to see starting from the local and moving outward.”
I think its an apt message for the day.
All the best,
Jacob Edgar
