Can wolves and humans co-exist ?
“Let disappear pastoralism and shoot the wolf is the same, that is to say, to abdicate the responsibilities of our species with regard to its own future, which necessarily involves the preservation of life as a whole and friendly and sustainable agriculture. “Jean-Marc Landry Foundation
Can large predators coexist with humans? We think that yes. We know that YES! Jean-Marc Landry Foundation has chosen to speak solutions rather than problems; He is not afraid to position himself both for pastoralism and the presence of wolves, both being compatible in the eyes of those who love the challenges of our time. Let’s be many to hear a positive message and discover innovative and exciting ideas that allow to envisage the future with serenity. There is a free information day, Saturday, 15th October, in the canteen the Ages in 1147 Montricher, starting 10:00. If you have seen the film “TOMORROW” and the documentary “How wolves change rivers” it is a MUST to attend! Inscriptions on their website: www.fjml.life
Proposing realistic and effective solutions for a peaceful and lasting coexistence between large predators and pastoralism is the goal that has always pursued Jean-Marc Landry from the Swiss Jura, biologist, ethologist, wolf specialist and specialist in the protection of herds . To do this, he has created a national foundation, intending to primarily take care of this problem, and whose objective is to become one of the major players to keep human activities and presence of predators on the same territory, wherever they are on the globe. There are solutions, but implementing them is a challenge. Just as Switzerland intends, via a cantonal initiative approved last month by the National Council to authorize the hunting of a protected species throughout the year, pastoralism is abundantly present again. It is clear that we never extend so far on the subject then when wolves are involved. What can we deduct from this? That, far from being the sworn enemies for which we have always ‘sold’ them, they are rather two sad companions in misfortune, as their destinies are linked. If farming is doing badly, the wolf is far from being the cause! It may be the drop that lets overflow the vase, but above all, he is a scapegoat of choice which avoids asking the right questions about what we want for tomorrow. In our plate, but also for the natural areas around us.
“The fair and sustainable distribution of natural areas in the long term is not only a necessity but also a strong symbol in a changing world. A world in which the popular will is clearly in favor of a return to more nature and qualitative and responsible food, where pastoralism could, too, find a fair consideration. “Jean-Marc Landry Foundation
