Raimundo Arruda Sobrinho lived for 35 years as a homeless in the huge city of Sao Paulo. He lost almost everything but never gave up on himself.
Every single day he would write poetry and that kept his heart alive. One day a young woman started talking to him and they became friends.
“They say that when the disciple is ready, the master appears. That’s what I felt when I saw Raimundo for the first time. He was completely absorbed in what he was writing. It was as I was looking at someone with an enlightened, higher spirit. I felt I had to go after him and get to know him.” says Shalla Monteiro in her Ocondicionado.
This woman broke a chain and got close to a man that, because of his condition, was socially isolated. She would pass by every day and share a moment with him. She learned that Raimundo’s biggest dream was to see his poems published in a book – she then created a facebook page to start sharing his precious words… The magic of this connection opened up a whole new dimension for the life of this man. Raimundo’s brother found him and welcomed him in his house and now the poet’s verses are read by many people all over the world.
No matter how challenging life can get we should never give up on ourselves… miracles are on their way!
