Yvon Chouinard (Patagonia) and Craig Mathews (Blue Ribbon Flies) started 1% for the Planet in 2002 while on a fishing trip. They both realized that business has a responsibility to protect the environment that sustains them, both personally and professionally. They founded 1% for the Planet to people buy better products and protect the planet we play on.
1% for the Planet exists to build, support and activate an alliance of businesses financially committed to creating a healthy planet. We’re still growing quickly, more than ten years and $100 million in giving later. Look for the 1% for the Planet logo when you shop and feel good that the companies you support contribute 1% of their sales to causes you care about.
